The "being anti-Ai is ableist" thing is not only a condescending weenie take, but also untrue. Crappy AI substitutes for access don't work, but become a quick go-to excuse to take away real accommodations that do.

Society is ableist. People are ableist. LLMs CAN have some access use-cases, its silly to deny that. But even so, I think we have a responsibility to ensure that we are critical of the tech we use, even if we are disabled. And if the critics make you uncomfortable, think about why that is./

When disabled people try to be inspirational, it allows people who are not-yet-disabled to avoid sitting w/ their discomfort. But striving to stay inspirational denies much of our very real human experience. Plus it takes lots of energy to mask symptoms that make others uncomfortable. Who benefits?

"A film about and made by disabled people." I admit the history nerd in me sighs a bit at the use of "dark ages" to describe anything medieval, but every other aspect of this looks amazing! Esp the disabled cast, a director who's a wheelchair user, a half-disabled production crew that all masked up.

The first anthology was so good! I read it with an online book club last year and still think about the stories. The manuscript was prepared in summer of 2023. I can't even imagine how much more impactful and poignant a sequel would be now. DEFINITELY an incredible project to Kickstart!

Important thread. I'm so exhausted by AI.
