Dems have this bizarre inversion of democratic centralism where the base adheres absolutely to the party line while the actual party members are feckless careerist who meander back and forth with no party discipline at all.

cons spent half a century trying to eliminate a federally protected right to abortion and they succeeded, after many setbacks. it would be nice if the dem powers that be would reflect on the fact that there’s not a single issue they care enough about to work for it for longer than even a few years.

this is why we start with universal healthcare for kids. it’s relatively cheap, parents can get add on private if they feel the need, doesn’t force adults off the health insurance they claim to love, no sudden loss of jobs. and once these kids age into adulthood they won’t want to give it up.
