I write luminous science fiction and fantasy. When not writing, I watch birds, admire lichens, and play the accordion. In my writing I like to explore the boundaries of time, monsters and myth, and the concept of cats. Find my writing here:

I’ve been getting a series of phishing emails from /totally/ real publishing agents. The first one was pretending to be from THE Robin Wall Kimmerer (first clue it was fake) saying she loved my novel (second clue - I have not written a novel).

Whose Sword Once Served
I was a horologist before I was a diver. Once I maintained the guardian automaton; now I search for her pieces. With her great golden gladius, the towering automaton protected our coastal city. Her internal gears whirred above murmuring waves. Until the day those traitorous waves bore forth a conquering armada and their war kraken. Tentacles wrenched the guardian apart, her fragments falling into the ocean. Always the caretaker, I dive. Again and again, until I find the central gear, that whirring heart. Tenderly, I hook it with tackle and pull it to the surface. My guardian will live again. * * * Gabrielle Bleu writes luminous science fiction and fantasy. What I read this week: Unstamatic's Fat Bear Flash from 2022. "If a Bear" by Kelli Lage has some great word-play; fun and biting and melancholic. "Saudade" by Jody Pasdigselv is a lovely wistful piece about alienation from and connection with the natural world.

Keep calling, keep protesting, keep organizing. Trump threatened to kill an entire civilization w/ nuclear weapons just last week. We can't sit around and ignore this for 2 weeks. It's our duty to stop him. Get loud.
