Publisher side quest: Due to minimum postcard print runs, AaN had a lot of leftover cover postcards from "Fathoms in the Earth" (aanpress.com/aanorder.htm...). Chopped a big stack in half today to make nifty/quirky/colorful bookmarks.

I wonder how much longer we are going to be able to publish the books and journals we want to. Or when book fairs and cons will begin to be content monitored.

While finding images to use for an anthology cover, I am using the no AI filter in Depositphoto along with the date stamp/upload info to select images pre-2020. Human artists always.

There are other things I look for in a final layout that have to do with the “art” side of graphic design and typography. More to do with the weft and weave of an author’s writing and how it feels/looks on the page.

Sometimes get asked what to do in a final layout check before submitting to the printer. Beyond a final spell check, & looking for widows & orphans, one thing to look for is a sentence beginning with ". I" at the end of a line. These I always shunt down to the next line so the "I" doesn't stand out.

The time is now. Right now. Time for literally all of us to push back against fascism. You don't have to and literally can't do EVERYTHING. Don't worry about that! Just pick the one or two issues/things you know and care about and join the people who are doing practical things to help.
