Here's a Sinclair Microdrive cartridge with a UK pound coin for comparison. We trusted these mini-magnetic tape loops with our valuable data in the 1980s. Totally insane! To be fair, they were actually quite reliable. The tape loop is 5 metres long and stores a minimum of 85 to 100KBytes of data.

VideoBeast and the 'universal' host board that plugs into the ZX Spectrum, RC2014 and MicroBeast. The next job is checking the SD Card interface works, then there will hopefully be a second revision of both host and video interface to send out to devs. 848x480 pixels on a Spectrum!? Of course!

I went to visit the Northwest Computer Museum where they were having a Tech Jumble Sale! It was a looooooong drive.

What I love about tinkering with old computers is when you open them up you never know what you'll find. This ZX81 must have been a kit build. There's no way they would have fitted components in the factory like this!
