Got "bitten" by AI for the 1st time. Used AI to research a product; when I received said product, it was a huge letdown. I'd forgotten my own advice of always cross-referencing AI with other sources. AI was so busy trying to "help" me that it didn't point out when my expectations were unrealistic.

I really disliked Starfleet Academy. Not because it was "woke", or targeted young adults, or whatever people are currently arguing about. I couldn't get past the 5th episode because of poor, lazy writing that kept contradicting Star Trek canon. It wasn't a *bad* show; just really disappointing.

The immensely talented artist Philip Castle died recently. He created the posters for A Clockwork Orange and Full Metal Jacket as well as album artwork for the many great bands. Retro gamers will know him for his work on the original Elite box artwork. RIP.

Came across a bizarre video file: 720i. Which doesn't exist. There is no interlaced 720-line format in any universe. My theory: Someone imported 480i into an editor, resized to 720, and somehow forced interlaced export. Thankfully, their blunder makes it possible to unscramble it back into 480i.

I've never seen the Rambo films. Decided to finally watch them during a bout of sickness this week. The first was good; the second, ok. But the third... Yikes. It is pretty wild watching Rambo fighting on the side of rebels who would later become Al Qaeda and the Taliban. That did NOT age well.

Decided to check out the Alien 3 Legacy fanedit. The shot matching, color grading, and audio editing are excellent, but I felt they should have taken more creative license to edit it into a dark Fincher horror film. It's too long, and suffers the same pacing problems and issues of both sources.

As a hacker and tech person, I've avoided The Net (1995) for the same reason doctors don't watch medical dramas: There are so many technical inaccuracies that it becomes infuriating to watch. But it came up on a list of "movies all hackers should see", so I guess I'm going to give it a shot.
