I have the world's bestest BUSINESS computer. It has a huge library of UTILITIES to make your life MOAR PRODUCTIVE. And it is not a #ZXSpectrum because it has a REAL KEYBOARD.

Having slept on the problem, and weighed up the wealth of options layed out before me; It is with some regret, but the greatest of respect, that I have decided..... To cut and bodge the SID card rather than fix my own mistakes. May @samcoupe.com have mercy upon my soul.

So we're back to blinkentest but looks like core functionality can be restored in software. Might need one teeny weeny cut and bridge to get back to full strength, but ya know, factory fitted bodge wires just make it moar retro.

Gah. You know that one little thing you don't test, because you've tested everything else and it was fine, and checking this requires a little more work, and you're absolutely sure you've got it right on paper........

Not my most exciting vid, but we have life! Green for power, yellow is the usb host kicking in. Had a wrong resistor on the reset line that had me scratching my head. Correct to the schematic, but different on the working v1 project board. Dunno which way round I cocked that up, but all good now.

I've got this many 12v+ PSUs, cos that's what you get these days. All your old routers etc. And I've got the same number of 9v- computers: Sinclair, Sega, Nintendo etc How about cut the cable and add a 7809 with strain relief? And by maxing out the 100x100 pcb special price I got 50 for £3.50

Meh. The linkage is completely shot. Worth a look, but the garage can have it. Easy replacement, but I'll end up buying three of the wrong things which is gonna cost more than an hour's labour.

I think that lot was my, I dunno, 10th, 12th birthday present and still going strong. These days I'd normally just drop it off at the garage, but when your wipers stop working in the British winter (or summer for that matter) it's a more immediate problem.

I've got a key safe by the front door that I don't know the combination to or if there's a spare key in there. I've been meaning to get to it so I've made a notch decoder and studied the Lock Picking Lawyer video. If it doesn't work, I can always brute force it to get the combo. 🤔

THREAD: One thing that is fascinating about music using the SID chip on the Commodore 64 is that often musicians would look at different ways of getting sounds out of it. One would be to call their music players multiple times a frame, meaning different sounds possible. Here's some examples (1)

Holerith tabulating machine 50s/60s? Punch cards are taken out the box on the left, fed in at the top and fall out the chute at the bottom. The plug board bottom right sets up the operations. The whole thing extends several right with more sequential operating modules. 🧵1/4
