I know I said I wouldn't go on about it, but seeing my own artwork all over an article in the Guardian online this week was a nice surprise. At a time when my future career is looking a tad uncertain, it's interesting to think about what happens next.

Had a lot of fun servicing this 1541 drive. Sent to me as not reading disks, soon sorted but wouldn't write anything. Faulty sensor, bypassed for testing but the owner wants to keep it as a read-only drive. Okay then! Someone had gone mad with white lithium grease also, it had gone everywhere.

PSA: the small and mighty SIDKick Pico works perfectly with the Commodore 64 Ultimate, before you go spending three figures on an original SID chip in case the on-board UltiSID doesn't float your boat.

Oh yeah, I used this stuff to get the exact profile for the posts that turn the tape spindles in this cassette mechanism when 3D-modelling it. I probably should get out more.

Holy sh*tballs! The SIDKick Pico firmware just got updated, adding filter curve adjustment options and - get this - presets! I have never seen a SID replacement with presets before. Set it on 6581R4AR and fired up my go-to test from the late, great Peter Clarke. Have a listen for yourself. 🎧

Brand new Zzap! 64 just arrived. That will go nicely with my brand new C64 (and the latest FREEZE64 which I have been saving for the Christmas break). California Games cover weirdly aligned with the Christmas issue. I remember buying the original issue on a scorching hot Saturday in August. 🫠

Well hello there...

Looking to get some photo gifts made from one of those companies who have their own software that you can install on your PC... and there's a goddamn Linux version! Installs via a Perl script, runs in user space, installs a launcher and everything. I think I might cry.

I was supposed to be at @retrocomputermuseum.co.uk in Leicester today for their Christmas gathering, but had to stay home due to the winter lurgy. I absolutely love this event and this is the first one I've missed. Genuinely gutted. On the plus side, my wife has put the tree up and it looks fab.

Moved the contents of my USB hard drive to my NAS, then accidentally deleted some stuff. Un-deleting the entire contents of the USB drive (which was effectively empty) with TestDisk, and copying back to the NAS. It's restored 2.5 TB of files and counting. It's only a 2 TB drive! 🤪

Sorry for the lack of updates on the BHF 64 charity fun thread. I have been flu'd up to the eyeballs.
