I’m a bit surprised at the general reaction that Ottawa did well in the Tkachuk deal. The ‘26 picks will either be on a different timeline from their current core or will return a (likely) worse player. The ‘29 1st loses a ton of value from being conditional, and again, isn’t on their timeline.

Raddysh wasn't my first choice but you can make an argument for targeting him. He's just insanely high variance. Wouldn't be shocked if he looks like a low end top pair guy. Wouldn't be shocked if he looks like a bottom pair guy. Say what you will of Chayka, he's certainly not playing it safe.

Raddysh feels like the kind of move the leafs had to make. I think more likely than not it's an overpay and there's a real chance it's a disaster, but if they're trying to do something in the next few years there were pretty limited options
