If you're wondering why I'm monitoring the temperature to check if fermentation is happening, it's because the sake brewing process means that sugars are being created at the same time as the yeast is converting them to alcohol. So it's not possible to use a hydrometer to check fermentation...

Bavarian Obatzda is scarily good.

Day 2 in #Munich. Living the Tram life and shuttling to and fro from the Viktualienmarkt. Bought a ton of Bavarian cheese and dried sausage and was gifted a pot of Obatzda a blend of 2 x 3rds aged soft cheese and 1 x 3rd butter, to be eaten with soft pretzels. Warmed Honigwein is so moreish 🍻🫶

I do worry about boys playing sport with girls. My daughter plays on the boys rugby team and she dwarfs the poor little fellas. She leaves a trail of flattened bodies & broken dreams as she storms through the centre like a Valkyrie.

And sunk a litre of Augustiner Dunkel, some gluhwein and feuerzangenbowle🔥 Quality dad time. ❤️🍻🫶

On remarkably fine form today after the @britbeerwriters.bsky.social awards last night. Headed over to the legendary Pellicci’s for a gargantuan fry up. Such a warm and lovely staff team. 😂 banter and good vibes with me and me Dad. We left with a Christmas lunch sandwich + a free bread pudding.
