THINGS THAT MAKE ME HAPPY: Kosher Mafia by David Hazan and Sami Kivela made my list last October. I’ve now read the entire historical fiction series about gangsters and Nazis in Cleveland of 1936. Hazan and Kivela absolutely nail the landing. Highly recommended. 6-3-25.

THINGS THAT MAKE ME HAPPY: Kosher Mafia by David Hazan and Sami Kivela. This riveting historical fiction about Jewish gangsters is set in my native Cleveland of 1936. Well-written and well-drawn, this is a must-read for crime comics devotees. 10-18-24.

Trans and non-binary stories deserve to be told. Trans and non-binary people deserve to see themselves in characters. That's why I wrote Elle Campbell Wins Their Weekend, a story about a non-binary 7th grader trying to figure out how to make the world understand who they are.
