This is the advice I wish someone had given me decades ago btw I was trying so hard to be “original” that I wasn’t thinking about being hireable and reliable. Storyboarding for commercials was the wake up call-because I had to be fast, clear and clean and draw EVERYTHING (cars/animals/etc)

The tricky thing about trying to make the move to graphic novels is that while you are working on one-you have to try and make pitches for the next in the hope of selling it so that you can start working on it after current one-so no lag in income My brain hurts

There is no wrong answer. I think of working for the big 2 as the equivalent of doing Shakespeare on stage. Contributing to the legacy tht came before us in the same way that creating an original play is also contributing Dream big folks

Real question: If you could make the same money writing/drawing a big 2 book or your own creation-what would you choose?

Good for Jim Lee for prioritizing health-this 5th gear is an expectation we (and the industry/some editors) put on ourselves and most of us do not have the healthcare/stability to choose to slow down. 4 weeks for comics at the expected level of the 21st century is not sustainable for most
