Folks, it was just a matter of time before this Twitter clone turned into Twitter. Even before Elon, it was a trash fire. I was already thinking of winding down my presence, here. An ICE-friendly social-media platform is not for me.

In case you were wondering what one of the major lines of attack on AOC will be in 2028, it won't be about Taiwan or populism but about her belief that Israel isn't entitled to free and unlimited military assistance from the US

I appreciate that the internet has made everyone into an amateur investigative journalist. But actual investigative work requires aggressively checking, double-checking, and trying to poke holes in your own work — not just rushing to publish because you want to believe it's true.

I'm seeing this get shared around in lots of places. (So apologies for picking on Judy) But it is sloppy research. This wire transfer is to "Harper & Associates Inc," which is the name of multiple firms across the U.S. The former prime minister's company is "Harper & Associates Consulting Inc."

Millions of us signed into platforms decades ago for the novelty. We stayed for the community. Right before the pandemic, I met a friend I met on the Kindred Spirits listserv in 1997! 29 years! We've lost the plot! It used to be that you'd log into chat for escapist fun, not to be traumatized.

Some of us didn't hop online in the 90s or the 2000s to get rich and famous, man. Some of us hopped online in the 90s and 2000s 'cause it was FUN to chat with people all over the world... for free! Baby, we grew up when it cost a zillion dollars to call long distance! We had pen pals at school!

Yes it’s Valentine’s Day. But it’s also the chosen birthday of Frederick Douglass who was born in 1818 on a plantation in Talbot County, Maryland. He escaped from slavery & rose to become the most eloquent and forceful voice for the abolition of slavery & for Black voting rights in the U.S.

This is something the Nazis used to do to Jewish children in the camps. It happened to a man I knew when he was a child in Auschwitz. The camp guards thought it was funny as hell.

Neale Barnholden’s “From Gum Wrappers to Richie Rich: The Materiality of Cheap Comics” was nominated for an Eisner for Best Scholarly/Academic Work. Defying the common compulsion to “elevate” comics by transforming them into high art, Barnholden celebrates comics’ supposedly trashy materiality. 1/9

Our government is crumbling and facilities are doing things they weren't designed to do in order to keep up. Community centers become homeless shelters. Libraries become daycares. It's unfair. We should have all four of those facilities in place.

For whatever reason, that cadet is using an assistive device. Neat! Here are some perfectly lore-friendly reasons why they might be doing so. 1) They're from a low-gravity home. Nothing is *wrong* with them, there's nothing to cure. They're from one of Saturn's moons, and are adapted to life /

I have a friend who said, of Starfleet Academy, that this took them out of it - that seeing a person in a wheelchair in the 32nd century seemed unrealistic, since medicine in Star Trek "should be able to cure whatever was wrong with them." That's not the case, for any number of possible reasons.

Why? Because the professors who teach gender studies courses are often more willing than others to speak up when people within academia are doing or benefiting from harm to girls and women. And because those classes prepare students to see and call out similar problems in other institutions too.

It's especially important to make sure this shit doesn't pass without comment in cases where the assumption is that it's safe to talk like this because there are no Jewish people in the room. It should never be safe to talk like this. I am not a safe space for hate.

Saying the Epstein files are proof of a secret Jewish cabal controlling the world, instead of simply proof Epstein and his cohort were horrible, is antisemetic and shitty. Also don't engage with the larger truths those files are revealing about society and power. Leave Jewish people out of this.

This isn't about choice. It's about their desire to eliminate the "weak" in society (based on their inhumane view that the "weak" take more than they contribute and thus don't deserve life) and to profit by selling snake oil to people who reject mainstream meds.
