Meanwhile, Cranbrook just announced they're getting off the website, saying "staff has lost confidence in X as an appropriate avenue for sharing City information." It's a fairly conservative city, council has endorsed it, and there doesn't appear to be any backlash. Vancouver is different.

British Columbia's government says OpenAI had a preplanned meeting with provincial officials the day after a deadly shooting at the secondary school in Tumbler Ridge, but the company made no mention of concerns it had regarding the shooter's online interactions with its ChatGPT program.

Thankfully #Newwest staff, Mayor & 4 Councillors put in work: fast-tracked approvals & welcomed non-market housing. Now the province suspends a $3.3B fund. Non-profits are left with sunk costs, and the burden falls on poor & unhoused ppl while the wealthy are shielded. The province needs to step up!

Also fun tidbit from the BC budget: BC has received thousands of applications from US health-care workers, and 140 of them have accepted job offers. The advertising campaign cost to recruit these workers was $5 million so that’s $35,714 spent per accepted job offer.
