Just a heads up. I was able to schedule my COVID vaccine appointment. Online it will ask “do you have a condition that puts you at high risk for severe outcomes from COVID-19 virus.” Click yes and it will allow you to schedule an appointment. No questions asked. No proof required. Pass it on.

In case you need an ethicist's input: it's not only acceptable but, I'd argue, obligatory to say what you need to say to get a COVID vaccine. We have duties of care to each other, and particular duties of solidarity to those the regime wants dead, which supersede situational duties of truthfulness.

Further enraging that this whole thing frames the ethical discussion of American slavery as somehow disruptive, when it's actually the opposite. It's a corrective! The disruption was papering over the history of slavery in the first place.

The gradual inclusion of truth about the experience of slavery in American museums has been one of the most deeply researched and considered and consequential developments in public history over the last half century. Enraging we have to defend it in this way.
