While I do appreciate this article, it would be remiss of me to not note something: The NYT's scientific illiteracy when covering gender-affirming care has had an integral role in propagating the genocide of trans people in the US.

Let me clear this up the idea that someone’s career disqualifies them from experiencing racism stems from the idea that actually racism is just classism in different clothes. It’s not true, and it leads people doing things like assuming Sandra Bland must have been poor and other stereotypes.
