For me, 2025 was a dark year. Rough, heavy with anger, loss, grief. I lost gigs, failed to finish the novel, dropped the ball teaching. The few good times—Spain, seeing good people, writing, a few wins—came from doing the work. So yeah, 2026 is all about the work. Let’s write.

It's such a beautiful day in Los Angeles, after a few days of heavier than usual rain. The air is clean and crisp, the sky is blue with a few clouds, birds are everywhere, and the temperature is just perfect. Today is already a great day, but one headline could make it so much better. Maybe today.

A dear friend of mine just called to tell me that her 43 year old son was killed in a car accident on his way home for Christmas in Austin from Virginia. He was their only child, and I have the fondest memories of babysitting him when he was very young, to hanging out with him 1/3

I'm one of the biggest fans of Twin Peaks. I saw the original run in 1990-91, currently rewatching S2 E9 and somehow it JUST entered my intricate mind that, at its core, it's about a demon possession of Leland. How did I not realize that in 35 years? It's literally my favorite horror genre. 🤦‍♀️

Book 88: Angel Down, by @danielkraus.com, a terrifyingly lyrical book about five soldiers finding an angel in no man's land in the terminal days of World War I. As if the Angel of Mons were real and not all that nice. Beautiful use of language, pacing, and the word 'and.'

I've been doing a re-watch of Twin Peaks the past few weeks and what stands out to me on this viewing is how absolutely fucking INCREDIBLE Jack Nance & Ray Wise were in it. Every time they are on screen, I am riveted, especially white haired Ray Wise. Incredible performances from both. ✌️🖤🌲☕️🪵🚦

Randomly came across this 'official' photo of my HS graduation class (of 1980) photo, taken on the pier behind my grandma's house. That's Bayou Desiard behind us. (I'm bottom row, farthest left.) There were only 21 of us total. I'm still in touch w/the majority of these folks, crazily enough.
