Siskins over again today plus a Woodlark and plenty of Mipits & hirundines. Pair of Garganey on the marsh, 94 cattle egrets at marsh farm, 19 curlew sandpipers & 6 spoonbills from norton benches, another 5 curlew sands on east side, 3 spot shanks at ferry, 5 whinchat ham/ferry, 3 Green Sands Ferry.

An Osprey over the house was a new garden bird this morning. It joins WT Eagle, Hobby & Red Kite, but I’ve not yet had the Chichester Peregrines over, even though they nest only 1.5 miles away! As I’m in a new build estate most of my house list is flyovers so Osprey is on it, Dunnock isn’t!

Spent a day at Pagham Harbour today watching the tide rise and fall and the birds come and go. Total of 50 species of birds seen/heard including this Spoonbill at a high tide roost with the egrets and herons @sussexornitholo.bsky.social

A massive ~12k pairs of Glossy Ibis bred in Doñana National Park this year with very high breeding success due to good winter rains. Marshes now dry and birds dispersing north aided by favourable winds. Conceivable that some will stay to breed in UK/Ireland in 2026 #UKbirding #Ornithology

Plenty of Blackcaps and Spotted Flycatchers about this morning; Grey Phalarope in Pagham Hbr; Whinchats, Wheatears, Redstarts and at least three Hobbys too.

Two additions to the year list in August, being Tree Pipit and Pied Flycatcher bringing the total for the year to 207, which is one higher than the 206 achieved in 2018. There were 150 species recorded in the month, this being only the third time that 150 had been reached in August (153 in 2022)
