Today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme is #NegativeSpace so here are a couple of phone camera shots of Brent Geese that I grabbed when they flew over head and I was pretty pleased with. I see Spitfires from Goodwood fly over most days and that’s what the 2nd photo reminds me of.

A fascinating predator v predator struggle in the conservatory this evening as this False Widow successfully captured a Common Bluet. Gruesome, but extremely interesting to observe.

It was a gorgeous morning to lead a Chi Nats walk at Ambersham Common. Nice views of singing Tree Pipit (after missing it last time) & lots of breeding activity for Dartford Warblers, Stonechats & Yellowhammers. A few nice moths and butterflies seen, and my first Beautiful Demoiselle of the year.

Also good to see two broods of very young Pochards - one of 5 ducklings, one of 3. Quite a difference in female & duckling colouration between the two broods.

The first time I’ve ever got an acceptable Dragonfly in flight photo. With the number I deleted it makes me realise how much more practice I need, and how skilful some of the photographers on here are! This was one of at least 6 Norfolk Hawkers at Chichester Gravel Pits at lunchtime. #dragonfly

The Flame-throated Warbler has always been a challenge for me, as I don't see them that often and they're very busy little birds as they flit under leaves looking for delicious insect snacks. I got a little luckier today. #CostaRica #birds

Had a great morning at RSPB Pulborough Brooks. 65 species including my best ever views of Nightingale, 2 Cuckoos having a go at each other, & 3 White Storks. Plus all the usual goodies - WTE, LRP, Adder etc. Quite pleased with this video seeing as it’s phone handheld to the scope.

Reminder there is a feed for Wildlife & plant books like ID guides/reference books, natural history, guides with maps for places to visit etc (even if not specifically wildlife guides as books for exploring wilder areas still great for biological recording!).

A nice jaunt over to Hampshire for the Chichester RSPB Group today. Water Vole, several showy Cetti’s, and 3 Glossy Ibis along Titchfield Canal. Then we couldn’t resist the short hop to Warsash for the AMGP, a tough watch in the strong winds! A pleasing lifer for several people. #birds #ukbirding

Spent a long weekend in Zagreb so that the other half could renounce her US citizenship at the the embassy there. This particular wall near the cathedral seemed to be the spot for blackish birds to gaze quizzically up and to the left.

Following a post from @marthawells.com a couple of weeks ago we went to the astonishing Museum of Lost Tales in Zagreb. One of the most unique places we’ve ever been. Incredible artwork and besides the fantasy aspects the wildlife details were drawn so accurately - pleased me tremendously. 10/10!
