My pre-adoptive identity IS my identity. To conceal it is to violate the right to know who I am. People who dismiss our demands for the truth with “love is stronger than DNA” are engaged in deliberate and desperate obfuscation. And concealing the truth is the opposite of love. 🥚

I'm constantly amazed by adoptive parents who are also writers who talk about honoring people's stories but also continue to speak for and over adoptees. Do you not grasp that we adoptees experience life through a lense you can't possibly understand? Please stop writing and speaking for us.

Adoption mythology casts its spell of benevolence over everyone—GOP, Dems, pro-life, pro-choice, evangelicals, LGBTQ couples. It’s the most depoliticized, denialist narrative I’ve ever encountered and I’m a climate scientist. Ask me why I didn’t know the correct city of my birth for 61 yrs.

So much myth-building as gone into the adoption industry. It deliberately cloaked itself with a win/win saviourism feelgood narrative to hide the fact it's human trafficking. Baby selling. Adoption is people buying babies 🥚
