There are other fun flamingo adaptations: 1. They have an organ that excretes salt, so they can drink saltwater. 2. Adults secrete 'crop milk' to feed young. Because of the carotenoids in their diet, this red liquid looks like blood. 3. Same-sex couples raising chicks are common in large flocks.

Grateful to spend two days on the Klamath watching chinook, liberated by dam removal, return to streams from which they’d been precluded since the Titanic sank. Fish are everywhere, in numbers that stagger the mind & locations that biologists figured would take years to repopulate. Too beautiful.

Congrats. I totally agree. I got three still to be reviewed later in November and December so here's hoping but even when reviewed with 5%ile and 4%il grants not funded it increasingly seems futile, why bother.

things seem futile when preparing R01 resubmission for next week (8%, not funded), while study sections for my two other R01 resubmissions didn't even meet bc of gov insanity. in this light, we are beyond grateful to receive not 1, but 2 pilot grants to open new doors in miRNAs and cancer. lifeline!
