When I first discovered Tsuge, you could hardly find anything of his in English - I had to import TCJ #250 to read NEJI-SHIKI, and what little else remained were scans of his RAW shorts. It's fantastic to see how much that's changed in the last few years; a creator well overdue his spotlight. RIP

For my money, probably the king of staging and character acting in US comics - as well an underappreciated inker with a striking sense of design, and a gent to boot! Nobody can fill a scene quite like JLGL does and still have it read so efficiently.

For my money, probably the king of staging and character acting in US comics - as well an underappreciated inker with a striking sense of design, and a gent to boot! Nobody can fill a scene quite like JLGL does and still have it read so efficiently.

Really stings when you reach out to a publisher that was pivotal to your comics reading journey about work and they completely blank on you - despite doing something small for them previously. Not even much of a 'gotta draw this IP' guy, but I always hoped I'd get a chance to put my spin on things.

Got a couple I'm really proud to own, but the one I always get lost in time-after-time is my JP Leon original from the DETECTIVE COMICS: TERMINAL two-parter. Not the flashiest scene, but one that's brimming with so many smart design choices I'm constantly learning from. A true genius of comics.
