Ten years ago today I moved to Dublin to return to undergrad education as a mature student at Trinity College Dublin. I was jetlagged, my luggage was missing, I had no job and only a temporary and awkward place to stay, and Phil was still in the US until December. I think everything turned out ok.

Fastway had trouble trying to deliver my package so they held onto it for two weeks without contacting me or responding to my attempt to contact them and then just returned it. These are turbulent times, so it's somewhat soothing that fastway is still reliably the absolute worst. #fastwayistheworst

I somehow twisted my ankle really badly while walking. It was really sudden and didn't seem to have a cause. It's swollen and hurts like hell. I'm using an umbrella as a cane to get around the house, trying to build up the energy to go eat some food,which we stupidly keep so far away from the bed.

Finally have a little time off and I chose to spend it watching two recent-ish small horror movies on shudder, both of which started strong only to fall apart the minute they very suddenly decided to threaten their female protagonists with sexual assault. Like, come on.

I just watched The Woman in the Yard and it kept surprising me. I thought I had its number and it kept proving me wrong. A lot of the bad reviews on Rotten Tomatoes seem to be because people don't want to be sad!? Do they think horror is always just fun? Horror is more than one thing.

Just watched the Black Mirror episode "Common People" and though I liked elements of it, I couldn't stop thinking that that house was too nice, they should have sold or rented out (or stopped renting if they didn't own it) such a big house.

Went into Red Rooms completely blind (aside from some recommendations from trusted sources). Didn't even know it was French Canadian. A harrowing slow burn with a fantastic lead performance from Juliette Gariépy. Recommend.
