Today I spoke with residents on the Orchard estate in Greenwich. They expressed frustration over the pace of repairs services including poor cleaning of communal areas and lifts. They say they pay their rent & deserve better. I’ve been visiting this area for a few years & no improvement here 👇

Greenwich Foot Tunnel, an asset of historical importance and a vital cross river link for 4k users a day yet the lifts are unreliable & exclude a variety of wheelers, parents with prams & those less able to navigate over 100 steps on either side. Woolwich has the same issues. www.escalate-now.com

Very disappointing that Greenwich Council doesn’t take the issue of wet leaves on steep streets very seriously. I was asked by a group of residents to organise leaf clearing on very steep and dangerous Point Hill (not on the council schedule!).Today we got things done.

You don’t have to ban cars everywhere to transform your city centre. But you do have to seriously rethink and redefine the car’s role. There are many ways to do that, from #completestreets to #sharedstreets, pedestrian priority streets & Dutch #woonerfs, that prioritize streets for people, not cars.
