Reminds me a little of this account in Forces of Production of Norbert Wiener, one of the foundational cybernetics researchers, who became increasingly disgusted at the uses cybernetics was being put to in both military and industrial automation

From Greg Grandin's characteristically excellent Fordlandia I learned about Alberto Santos-Dumont, a Brazilian man who beat the Wright brothers in demonstrating flight. The military > internationalist ends to which the technology was put seems to have motivated his suicide

always liked the way ~5% of the population hold the door for you: propping it to a 25° angle behind them, while standing directly in your way. onus on you to shuffle in behind while taking the door off them. with a pram it really forces the: you better just get out of there altogether reverse nod

To boost American morale and unity in these divided times, there should be a Twitch Plays Pokemon type deal where everyone constantly votes on control of Trump's hands. It wouldn't have to disrupt his presidency - maybe just run it for like, a week. With luck, it could even end significantly sooner.
