Christmas card created by an individual who was compelled to live at Netherne Hospital in Surrey, during the midC20th, whose identity is currently unknown to us. This was made for art therapist Edward Adamson & is kept amongst his personal correspondence archived at Wellcome in London

Even with broad public support, no major museum has taken up the genocide in Gaza. No large institution I know of has put on an exhibition about Palestinian artists or Palestinian lives.

Is there a technical term for the addition of snow to letters, as seen in this Christmas Eve issue of Smash! (1966). A kind of visual onomatopoeia, seen (e.g.) on signs for 'ICE COLD DRINKS' or in the addition of flames to labels for RED HOT sauces.

All images from the civil war and before are in the public domain. We know what enslaved people in the American South looked like. Use them.

Mincemeat is an indestructible food. I just made mince pies with mincemeat that had been in a jar for two (maybe three) years, and they were lush. When the apocalypse comes, you can keep your tins, I'm going into the shelter with a bucket of mincemeat.

Thanks to
@jim.londoncentric.media
I discover that Daisy Green has profits of £2.4 million a year, in case anyone was wondering how money is concentrated into the hands of the wealthy. Presumably the family who have run the Parliament Hill café for 44 years will be encouraged to retrain in tech.

LIVID at the City of London’s decision to boot out the existing café owners, some of whom have been there over 40 years, and replace them with Daisy “we are not a chain, but a group of independent cafés owned by the same company with the word Green in our name, serving the same £20 burgers” Green

I hate Paul Simon, mostly just because his music is shit, but the funniest Paul Simon story I know is the time Steven Van Zandt (Silvio out of the Sopranos) had to persuade South African militants not to kill Simon for breaking the cultural boycott when he made Gracelands.

The oddest thing about this is that if AI translation is really good enough, it would make far more sense not to produce translations at all. Just give me the tools to read in other languages on my own time. We would also see a gold rush for copyright on minority language literatures

Nothing against people who want to talk about this but do you ever get the impression that we are being played into a vision of this as the last or only significant moment in a trans life? The frustration and confusion, the break, the becoming. One lives a whole life after, and recontextualizes
