It blows my mind that Image's "1963" comics are now older than the comics they were lampooning at the time. In 1993, Lee, Ditko & Kirby's early 60s Marvel comics seemed to belong to something almost as old & alien as the Victorian age (in my juvenile eyes).

I think people worry a little too much about immediate reviews/reactions. it takes time for a real, enduring opinion to form about something. and that goes both ways -- stuff that's praised the day of released is quickly forgotten, stuff that's pilloried becomes a classic collection.
