I just discovered an incredibly cool rule for my cellular automation algorithm

The music for Clover's is procedurally arranged, comprised of hundreds of audio files. I spent this weekend arranging the whole thing into a standalone soundtrack, which comes out to about 50 minutes long. Also put together a working album cover.

Clover's Quadrants progress report: I have finished a new build that has full music, full-ish audio, and a 100% artpassed campaign. A decent chunk of it will need more work, but I wanted to get a mostly "complete" game for the next wave of playtesters.

I've been using a kitschy bit of freeware called LameXP to convert my audio files to .ogg. There are probably better choices out there, but this one has a lot of charm. Yesterday there were turkeys in the UI - how can I say no?

I've been playtesting this. It's really good! This is not a "number go up baby sensory video" kind of roguelike. This is a roguelike about surviving by being clever and adapting your strategy to every fight.

Been bashing my head against a mysterious crash bug for a few days now. No stack trace, nothing obvious in the profiler. Reproducing the crash is unreliable and random; attempted fixes are starting to enter the realm of superstition. This is what game dev is all about babyyyyyyy

HOWEVER, i think the common response to this on the internet these days is 'boo gatekeeping' and imo this is a really bad response/take, the issue is the illusion of gatekeeping's removal. there are always gates and if no person is keeping them then some algorithm or accident of physics is.
