Welp, here goes the hype. Unfortunately as any water-based inks they print like shit. I hoped they would have nicer formula for once, but it's like printing with acrylic paint :( I know there are printmakers that like to use these inks but I'm not one of them. Such a shame!!

This is the paradox: the "AI" bubble is based on hype. It's not about creating useful things. It's about hype to inflate stock. If the public resists the hype, then line does not go up. So they hype harder and harder, repelling most people with their hard sell tactics. It's a downward spiral.

French publishing house Harlequin decided to use AI translation instead of human translations. All their freelance translators (some of whom had been working with Harlequin for +30y!!!) were told they would no longer receive work from Harlequin

The thing thats so insidious about using AI this way is that one of the main ways artists get hired are studios looking for art references and they find us and reach out. This is removing a major avenue to get work if they can just generate nameless derivations of our ideas.

It's the way tech works now: Companies are paid to implement some bullshit that no one wants and designs it so it is unavoidable and then uses facetious number of users to justify doing it more/get more money from investors

I've made it a personal goal to stop using the term "content" when referring to media made by artists. The word implies mass-produced filler and calling someone's hard work their "content" has started to feel kinda like an insult. Like human art made strictly for quick consumption

this is wonderful! idk if readers in fandom have seen how comment culture on ao3 has gotten so bad due to bot/AI comments lately, ranging from trolls trying to shame/insult authors into deleting fic to false compliments that lead to art scams. sharing your enjoyment of a fic can make someone’s day

the term "content creator" served it's purpose very well. conditioning people into seeing everyone as anyone and everything as anything, mostly among the ruling class who found it most convenient for their pockets. in that sense, generating slop is the final result of content creation
