Back in August several academics raised concerns that a Deloitte report to government may have been generated using AI. Deloitte denied this and put the citation errors down to poor editing. Anyway, Deloitte are refunding the government $440,000 for a report that was written using AI.

as a girl with a PhD in natural language processing and machine learning it's actually offensive to me when you say "we don't know how LLMs work so they might be conscious" I didn't spend 10 years in mines of academia to be told ignorance is morally equal knowledge. We know exactly how LLMs work.

Had a lovely time at Concrete Cow today. Played in Alien Archaeology by @grahamwalmsley.bsky.social in the morning and Pirate Börg in the afternoon. Very different games, with very different feels. Both highly enjoyable!

Good news! I had my winter flu vaccination yesterday! Bad news! It’s kicking my butt. My body takes those vaccinations seriously, and I’ve got zero energy today!

Hey @hardyroach.bsky.social - good to meet you at the TIN social! I’d never heard of this Italian film genre that you are turning into an RPG before; fascinating reading your thread about it. Which came first? Your love of RPGs or your love of Giallo?

I don’t know whether anyone following me is a software developer, but if you are and you haven’t heard of C4 I’d heartily recommend it as a way of designing larger scale systems in a sensible and comprehensible way. It was incredibly useful in my career in software development.

#ttrpg design problems I would like to run Road to Romance where all the players are in the same Regency Season. Where every protagonist is someone’s paramour and some else’s trouble. Problem is, I can’t see how to make it work yet! Can’t work out sensible arrangements of relationships!!

One of the wierd things about this government statement is that for years people have had to prove their right to work by providing things like passports. The whole point of the shadow economy is that THEY ARE NOT PLAYING BY THE RULES, so why would they play by these new rules? Makes no sense.

I’ve not had a bad cold for years. However, I woke up this morning with a sore throat that feels like it has been sandpapered. Sure hope I get over this quickly 😷
