POWs at Stalag Luft I #OTD 28 Dec 1941. #History #WW2. Once again I'm thinking of prisoners of war and escape stories. Chicken Run is on the TV, The Great Escape was on a day or two ago (it was Christmas) and I've just read 'The One That Got Away' about Franz von Wera.

Does anyone have access to trade directories or know where the City of Lincoln pub was? Reg Woolgar talks about it in his interview. The landlady was Dorothy Scott, and it was central Lincoln somewhere...

From an email I received today: "A note to say how pleasing it was to view a small 'drop in the ocean' of your archive." It seems that they found items regarding a specific person and then went on a bit of a rabbit hole searching by location.

An Englishwoman, Dorothy May married her German husband Paul, a stage-manager, in 1938. She wrote to him regularly after he was conscripted into the Wehrmacht. She continued to chronicle her experiences in Freiburg after he was declared missing at Stalingrad, in case he returned.
