A researcher from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum has been in touch about our copies of the 'Luftpost' propaganda leaflets. Apparently the IBCC Digital Archive holds the most complete collection their researchers have found. We've got a handful more waiting to be published too!

30/31 March is the anniversary of the Nuremberg raid. I wrote a blog a couple of years ago about the cultural memory of that night in 1944, when 95 aircraft were lost, and 545 airmen were killed.

The chap in the dark overalls and parachute harness has been identified by an archive user as American journalist Ralph Waldo Barnes. Unfortunately, he and the crew were killed 18 November 1940.

Part of the remains of Wellington T2722 has appeared on the beach at Spey Bay, Moray. The crew from 20 OTU ditched 27 November 1942 following engine trouble. All were killed. (From we love Moray's Beaches Facebook Group) Thanks

A couple of days ago it felt like Christmas in the archive. Today is the opposite emotion. George Robinson married Dorothy in May 1944. He flew operations as a wireless operator air gunner with 76 and 156 Squadrons and was killed 15 July 1944.

RIP Harry Winter. He flew operations as a wireless operator with 431 and 427 Squadrons before he was shot down and became a POW in 1943. Four of his crew were killed and he was injured. He was saved from being lynched by a German Army medical orderly.

I used give Pip a lift to the 44 Sqn reunions as she lived nearby. Remember Waddo control tower gave her a tour whilst the BBMF flew past (under the height of said Tower!) The station c/o said he must have sneezed and missed the flyby unfortunately. Nice one Groupie. đ
