That Ofsted's (supposedly revised) inspection plans include words like 'sophisticated' and 'astute' is a serious cause for concern. School and college leaders do not deserve to be subjected to such wild subjectivity, and no amount of training for inspectors will resolve this.

Includes a contribution from me. Using the TEF to determine whether universities and other HE providers are entitled to receive more students and / or more funding is totally unjustified, in my view.

Oh wow, that goes way beyond advising their members to withdraw from inspections. Game on.

The TEF is nowhere near being sufficiently valid, reliable, respected or statistically robust to be used to manage HE provision in this manner. And government also really needs to stop pretending that the TEF has anything to do with teaching excellence.
