Another 2 Honey Buzzards in off the sea at Dover Harbour today. The first day of 'the right winds' since my last 2 came in. The first a lovely male around midday followed by a female 20 mins later, great views of both.

Despite spending 4 days searching, we failed to find the Whiteheads Spiderhunter at Mount Kinabalu, leaving our Whiteheads trio incomplete! But we had some excellent compensation with a completely unexpected Jambu Fruit Dove! Even in the mist, its vibrancy could not be subdued!

PUSS MOTH larva - fifth (and final) instar. The growth of this caterpillar has been amazing. It emerged from its egg on 03/06/26 and was then only a few millimetres long. I'm going to release it back where I found it tomorrow. 🐛

A line of Manx Shearwaters passing Hauxley this morning - 304 north in an hour. Also a Sooty Shearwater and adult Long-tailed 😍 and Arctic Skuas. Huge numbers of local breeding seabirds going backwards and forwards - a few sample counts gave an estimate of 12,100 birds per hour
