Some of the small gathering of our local Wild Daffodils looking gorgeous in the early spring sunshine this morning. It's probably the only colony we know of locally, tho' there's likely more in the square that we haven't come across.

A Scarlet Tiger cat that was drawn to the actinic overnight. Not sure why they do this but these cats, more than any other, really do seem to be attracted to the light.

We've got a bunch of "favourite views" around home & on an afternoon like this afternoon, it's hard not to think of the view across Arnold's Marsh off towards the village as being one the very best there is, anywhere... So special. No filters either 😊

Long-tailed Duck, Arnold's Marsh February 24 2026 The late afternoon light did cool things to the colours of this gorgeous bird, almost monochrome at times, the shades of brown eased to soft dove-greys. Exquisite!!!

Not a lot in the actinic across another chilly night on the coast but a rather neat March Moth made it through the drizzle (joined by a Chestnut) for a 2/2 evening. Warmer evenings ahead, so numbers hopefully will be on the up soon.

Ah the glamour of Norfolk goose-watching 😅 A couple of muddy fields in the grey gloom & a fair few Tundra Bean Geese (2 & 10) along with a couple of Russian White-fronts & 4. 5k Pinks. Not an easy afternoon in the dismal light but a good return.

Tundra Bean Goose standing guard in a flock of 3500 Pinks this afternoon. This was one of five pairs of Tundras in the group ~ again, not the easiest viewing, murk, hedges, muddy fields, a bit of stealth & then a big ole sign to hide behind! Love it 😁

The tail looks suitably spiky here, also suggesting a 1st winter drake & the distinctive white spot under the bill, such a feature of drake Ferruginous Duck, was always apparent when preening. Both legs seen reasonably well, no hint of jewellery there...

...& the wing pattern, with that broad slash of white across the upperwing (seen easily on the underwing too), plus that isolated white belly patch & reduced, diffuse pale area behind the black nail all add up nicely to a pukka Ferruginous Duck.

An increasingly chilly February day but that presented zero issues for one of our local Otters, that we watched for well over half an hour late morning as it stooged around, doing it's thing. First one we've seen for a while & still a total buzz.
