Renters are being gouged by corporate landlords with rent hikes of 30%, 40%—even 50%. Canadians can’t wait years for affordability. We need national vacancy control now to stop profiteering and protect renters.

A single Vancouver police officer made $397,258 last year, making $239,258 in overtime on top of their base pay of up to $158,000. This is the wildest FOI I've seen in a long time. Well done Liam Britten for digging this up.

"Canada Post is on track to lose money" Hum. Duh. It cost less than a toonie to send a letter across Canada. "Canada Post is a service and not a business" was common knowledge until late stage capitalism brain rotted most people into think if it ain't making money for shareholders, it's failing.

Just $6.67 per day is what the Liberals say people with disabilities can live off of. When was the last time Mark Carney spent less than $6.67 on a single meal? As it stands, the CDB is insultingly insufficient for eliminating poverty among people with disabilities.

The more I think about Vancouver’s byelection lines, the more I think it’s a perfect example of how municipal staff fail. They tripled the budget for planning, talked about how great they were for doing all sorts of fancy extra initiatives. And mostly ignored the main thing voters rely on.
