Honestly gobsmacked by ABC's referral of my road safety motion to staff. Halloween is the most dangerous night of the year for CHILDREN. This was an attempt to use an existing process to keep CHILDREN safe, and ABC punted it to staff w/o offering an alternative. Really, guys?

There's surveillance footage of this that has been posted in other news articles, I won't share it because it's very disturbing, but the car driver hits the mother TWICE: stops after hitting the mother & child, then while she's lying in the road the driver goes again and drives over her. Murderous

I live close to this intersection and actively avoid it because it feels so dangerous. Cars rip down 16th, don't stop for pedestrians... Of course, the city does nothing. Pedestrian safety just isn't a priority. And this will only get worse with the upcoming budget cuts. Heartbreaking :(

Sadly the new provincial reforms to their multiplex system appear to continue to NOT apply to the City of Vancouver. The Province continues to ignore Vancouver's housing shortage, the epicenter of the provincial housing crisis.

In 2022, Ken Sim said line item budget comparisons were the cornerstone of his budget policy if he got elected mayor. In 2025, he voted against it happening for a budget presentation with potentially $100 million in cuts because his newly appointed city manager told him no.

Vancouver City Council approved establishment of standardized apartment zoning districts today, as well as a significant City initiated rezoning in the Broadway Plan and Cambie Corridor areas. I delivered these remarks in closing during the item at Council:

Ok the debate and vote on these mild zoning changes is finally up! This is a small step in the right direction: less pointless discretionary opportunities for NIMBYs to veto housing. All this does is make /some/ zoning consistent with existing policy and plans. Let's see how this goes!
