Horrendous story this isn’t it. Feeling it particularly as I was 3 streets away the night before and wrote about how nice it is that Heddon street is car-free. People have life-changing injuries from walking around central London on a Saturday night.

It's worth taking 10 min to write the mayor and your councillor to help them summon their courage. There’s always fierce opposition from a very vocal minority when it comes to these issues. But when these changes happen, these areas become very popular. They're also good for business.

Toronto is working on: - Speeding up our slowest streetcar system in the world - Having our first summer pedestrian street. TBH things are looking up, that's my entire wishlist for a progressive mayor.

I started bike commuting and racing bikes in the 1980s. I was also an NYC bike messenger in high school. So am pretty bold in traffic on the bike. But riding through GAP scared me quite a bit. Drivers going super fast, multiple lanes, with the road curving. These changes are needed.
