I've visited a fair few development sites today to take photos for the website. Here's new homes in Greenwich on Blackwall Lane. Lots going on in the town. Also popped to Thamesmead as TfL have revealed new images of proposed DLR extension. Now to upload all 450 photos taken this morning

On Thameslink again today. A train that will be cut over the summer. Here's new homes in Stevenage. Some occupied. When DfT took over LNER they stopped people here boarding. Set down only. Use over trains they said Now? Cutting various routes from here over the summer. DfT+Treasury brain.

DLR tracks to Stratford International when viewed from Stratford station. Barely anyone used to stay on past Stratford heading north but that's changed a fair bit now.

Peabody are to miss their latest deadline in south Thamesmead at phase three. No plans yet submitted. Already painfully slow. Plot closest to Abbey Wood station won't complete until late 2030s. At north Thamesmead they state 30 years to build new homes even with improved transport.

Labour MP for Dartford Jim Dickson has written to Thameslink about impending cuts over the summer halving services in north Kent that link directly with the Elizabeth line. Though it's the DfT and Treasury making the call.

Housebuilding remains in the doldrums. A flagship housing project at Ebbsfleet Garden Village saw just 209 starts in most recent annual data. Even fewer than 2020/21 during COVID. At that rate will take 75 years to complete.

Contrast between the Dept for Transport and TfL is stark. TfL recently boosted trains throughout Saturdays on the Elizabeth line as the leisure market is booming. DfT on the other hand to cut trains serving that same leisure market - reducing direct trains connecting to the Liz line to 1 tph.

I note she doesn't mention that the DfT have ordered that Thameslink services be halved this summer to 1 train per hour for much of the day in SE London and north Kent. That includes crucial direct trains from stations with many new homes that interchange with the Elizabeth line.

This is superb reporting, a really heartbreaking story.

The DfTs press release on impending takeover of Thameslink and GTR funnily enough fails to mention six weeks of rail cuts this summer, dropping services to 1 train per hour in north Kent at fast growing stations beside new housing. Nor the impact down the line of 30 mins service gap in Greenwich.

I sometimes have to take a very early bus (this was N1 at 4am) and it's usually busy but it might be me, but recently even more busy. Man standing at top of stairs as downstairs too rammed. No seats upstairs. Could this be due to new developments completing in places like Erith, Plumstead etc?
