Great thing about the cpap is that I can sleep with the covers over my head (great for fucked up sleep rhythm daytime sleep lol) which I couldn't before cuz it gets stuffy & feels like I can't breathe. Cpap tube delivers fresh air from "outside" yay

Anyway, I think Starfleet Academy is great. It takes a minute to warm up, and it certainly won't be for everyone (and that's OK!), but I am not relishing the bullshit we're gonna have to deal with as Star Trek fans over the next few weeks. But gonna try and be positive and show my love &support.

Maybe I'm too pessimistic, but I fully expect this show to get hounded to all hell and have David Ellison ready to cancel the damn thing as soon as it finishes its already filmed season 2, so he can make his tech-bro propaganda Star Trek for all the conservative Boomers.

This is especially potent because this is the last Trek show not made under the current Skydance regime, and given all the political bullshit going down at Paramount nowadays and cow-towing to fascism like Bari Weiss is doing - they're going to be primed to listen to these asshole grifters.

And I'm so fucking pissed that I'm already prepping to have to not only try to celebrate the show and also offer my earnest critique as a critic and fan (because I always love to critique the things I love), but also have to deal with these disingenuous assholes who are looking for more red meat.

The show takes a few eps but when I tell you the show GETS WHAT STAR TREK IS ABOUT, I'm not lying, especially as we get a few eps in. Its not TNG - its definitely something different and yet I think better then any modern live-action show, it captures the meaning of what I love about Trek.

And it PISSES me off most especially because, having seen the first 6 episodes of the show, its not perfect but its is a really REALLY good show that somehow manages to capture the soul of Star Trek yet translating in an accessible way for a modern audience.

Everyone from The Critical Drinker to Nerdrotic to all their little copycats have already made tons of videos priming their audience that Academy is "woke trash that doesn't understand and is going to ruin Trek with a woman showrunner who hates TREK just like Leslie Hedlund hated Star Wars fans."

I'm pissed that Starfleet Academy has clearly been targeted by anti-woke grifters in the same way Star Wars: The Acolyte. They're clearly laying the groundwork to go after it because it's a show in a Boomer scifi franchise with a diverse cast, not aimed at an older white male audience.
