Absolum is fun but also kind of weird in that it has a lot of juice to it but it's really lacking in one specific department that drags down the rest of the game. The roguelite part feels both extremely vestigial but also really negative to the design of the game as a whole.

I simply cannot disagree more and I even have examples of how all it takes is one person giving something visibility for it to blow up. The Void Rains Upon Her Heart released in early access in 2018 and for a solid 5 years, went under the radar.

Finished up Silksong, overall thoughts is that it's a lot better than Hollow Knight. It has some weirdly bad gameplay decisions which kind of negate the stronger base gameplay overall but the aesthetics and world design is a lot more interesting.

It's difficult to overstate the influence Recettear's surprise hit of a digital English release was in terms of getting the Japanese games industry to turn their heads towards PC as a viable release platform. We all owe a lot to Andrew and his work and I'm so sad to hear this.

Went back and revisited Hollow Knight after bouncing off of it in the first hour or so about five years ago. Played through it and beat it and my thought is that it was OK. Art and aesthetics carry hard, bosses are generally good with a few stinkers and some really boring generic platforming parts.

The people who are pushing this and forcing compliance through Mastercard and Visa will always strive to make their requirements as vague and broad as possible, so that it can be enforced broadly. Their goal is to make everything they object to "obscene" so they can erase it.

Clown behavior. Payment processors shouldn’t get to decide what legal products you can buy, and the extent to which @itch.io has pre-emptively censored tens of thousands of titles is unacceptable. Visa and mastercard aren’t government bodies, but they’re acting like they are.

Even if you don't purchase smut, it should be common sense that the right for anyone else to obtain it shouldn't be completely up to modern day crusaders and credit card payment processors.
