Thread. Things i have learnt since publishing a memoir. 1. Dont assume sales based on twitter followers if youre then going to leave the racist cesspit. 2. You're on your own. 3. Whatever you think the headline stories are, the tabloids will disagree.

My favourite single of the year was that catchy piece of shimmering dance pop by that female singer that i hadnt noticed till i started making an effort on Spotify, in a lame attempt to slow the ageing process. That narrows it down.

These Test matches are like episodes of Everybody Loves Raymond. The narrative and the reason they all get angry is slightly different each time, but by the end we're back to where we started, and nobody has genuinely learnt any lessons. And Australians find it much funnier than the English.

For those of you that get Andrew Lincoln, Abraham Lincoln and Andy Abraham mixed up, they fight, respectively, zombies, vampires, and the short memories of the British public.

I had great fun telling my 10 year niece yesterday about Boko Haram, the melting of the polar ice caps, and how it wasn't actually Santa who delivered her gifts that morning.

I would suggest that throwing a shoe over a pub is the real Ashes, but Stokes and McCullum would probably try and win that by blowing up the pub.

The life of a stand up is similar to that of a pro boxer. You'll get chances to punch a Youtuber, but you won't emerge with your dignity intact. Oh, and watch out for Parkinson's.

Rob Reiner. One of the alltime great imperial phases. A man who made sophisticated classics that were accessible and funny for people like me who like their films accessible and funny. 2025 seems to beggimg 2016 to hold its beer in an increasingly awful, attention seeking manner.

Statistically the history of this species is the oppression or slaughter of humanity by a minority of men in the name of personal profit or deluded ideology. This will never change. And we'll always have science, culture, art and God Only Knows to remind us of the species we could have been.
