Much like real Bushido, poster's bushido is a post facto romanticization of an earlier era of uncontrolled conflict, constructed by the inhabitants of a more centralized system to justify their own pretensions.

Insane that filmmakers keep putting everyone in leather coats and yet refuse to give us films based in 1600-1650, which is the one period they'd be even vaguely appropriate

the Labour approach of endless snippy briefings to the press does kind of pale in comparison to the Tory approach of "the 1922 Committee has gathered in the Baron Von Gout Memorial Chamber, where the assumptive challenger will shortly kill, fuck and eat a heron, in whichever order they see fit"

I feel like "But James Bond is dead, how do we bring him back?" is a poor excuse for "Being owned by Amazon means uncreative people keep throwing up roadblocks at us as we keep trying to revive this character."

Think the bigger problem with Bond is there are a bunch of commercial reasons (not least the now owner) why it can't represent the real geopolitical world, but a spy film that doesn't at least nod to it just looks a bit ridiculous, and worse, pointless.

That Radar piece about Bond is obviously made up. The claim that they can't work out how to resurrect him after he's been blown up comes from that old favourite, "a source close to the production". I don't think a team of experienced screenwriters is unfamiliar with the concept of a reboot.

A lot of good comment on the story here - but it’s really a complete non-story. No source for anything suggesting the writers at Amazon are in any way stuck. And then a quote from someone not involved in the project.

Like, I don’t know, I just don’t think that, when someone is the victim of hate-fuelled murder, the entire focus should be on the fact they were depressed. I would go so far as to say it is actually completely irrelevant for the public reporting of a murder influenced by bigotry.
