I wish we did more to integrate Canada in rearming Europe. Canada is already part of the Security Action plan, which is a plan for joint procurement. But I believe Canada should be seen as a place for investment. Especially for munitions factories that would be out of range of Russian missiles.

There has been an increase of people joining the armed forces in Poland, Germany, and Sweden. The countries that have the biggest problems with recruitment are Britain and the Czech Republic.

An irony of the Trump era will be that if all goes well, and we continue the European defence plan, it will be Europe that reindustrialises and not the United States. Think of what we are doing right now as a European version of what the Americans did from 1933 to 1944. A European New Deal.

European rearmament is going well. The only ones lagging behind are Italy, Spain, Belgium, and Portugal. Our biggest problem is a bottleneck in production. Brexit has been a complete disaster for Britain, polls show that Britons are increasingly realising this. I still believe there will eventually be an anti-Brexit backlash. And it will target Farage and those tories who supported it.

I am more worried about the prospect of a far-right or far-left French president, than Nigel Farage taking power in Britain.

The US ceased to be a reliable NATO ally on January 20, 2025. The last week has simply made that undeniable. The only question now is whether European leaders accept it. The USA will not now defend Europe from Russia. That is reality. Everything else is hopes and dreams.
