This is just but a bunch of chicanery. Ukrainian laws on minority protections are already in compliance with E.U standards. Protections of language, cultural identity, right to external association, right to name, and more. Meanwhile, Hungary treats its minorities in ways that violate E.U standards.

The criminalisation of prostitution in Europe is largely a legacy of the second world war. German soldiers frequented brothels in occupied countries. After World War 2 a lot of these countries criminalised prostitution in a moral panic that framed it as a form of treason.

I heard horrible stories from France, the country with the most Draconian punishments for prostitution. Not only stories of police abuse of power, but that by criminalising prostitution, France essentially handed control of the entire sex work sector over to the worst criminal gangs in Europe.

I hate it when people push the idea of criminalising prostitution into public discourse. Even if you are someone who finds it amoral or icky, or whatever. A simple comparison with those countries where it is illegal, shows that it being legal and regulated is the better choice.

No. Actually, other European countries should stop criminalising sex work. Countries where prostitution is illegal are plagued by problems with criminal pimping, human trafficking and other. The system that provides legality, legal protections, labour unions, and health services, is simply better.

My dad was raised Anglican. But for some reason, he converted to Greek Orthodoxy in the 1980s. He never explained why.

My uncle's story is somewhat tragic. He married an Italian woman. They had a child that died very young. Then his wife and their second child both died in childbirth. My uncle became a very religious catholic since then.

My dad was friends with a lot of artists, especially in Slovakia. He bought a lot of their paintings, which are at his place. He told me stories of how he used to buy oil paints and canvases in the West and bring them to his friends in Bratislava and Sopron.
