I just finally finished the new Critical Role episode.... and I had somehow forgotten how terrible it is to have to wait a week for the next episode. Can I be put into a medically induced come for a few months so I can wake up and just binge a dozen episodes like a feral animal? Please?

Last night as I was falling asleep, I realized I didn't make a face jug. I forgot to put a handle on it. It's just a bottle. I leave for vacation on Tuesday. I won't be back in the studio for 2 weeks. By then, he'll be too dry. I still love him, but I literally didn't do the assignment 🙃

In pottery class, we're doing face jugs. My teacher said we could do any face - human, Minster, robot. I went Japanese Demon. I based it on Oni masks. It's the first time I've done any sculpture. It was so fun. This took me about 12 hours. I am RIDICULOUSLY proud of how it turned out.

An update on the box project: So this was done by taking small bits of clay, pressing a pattern in them and then layering them inside a tissue box. You only blend the very edges of each piece as you place it. And try not to mess up your texture.

On a way better note, I made this (very girly) bowl. Thrown on the wheel and then altered. I've wanted to try a decorative split rim. I like how it turned out... but I'm a little sad it's speckled clay. All of my ideas for decorating don't involve the speckles.

In pottery class today, we worked on this new to me technique where you make thin disks of textured clay and then gingerly layer them INSIDE a cardboard box. The results I've seen for this are stunning. I won't get to see mine until Tuesday when it's a little drier. I hope it doesn't suck.

Day 1 of my pottrty hand building class, i made an egg. It's my first pinch pot (or actually my first 2, then put together). Next week, we are going to work on altering it and surface smoothing. I think I'm going to like this class a lot.

In a great victory for all of mankind, i do NOT have to appear for jury duty on Monday! I didn't want to go. My patients didn't want to be reschedule. No one wanted ME on their jury. This is a win for everyone.

My stomach is still not right, and I had to cancel plans to see two of my most favorite people yesterday (a 2.5 hour drive was more than I want to risk)... but my office just said we get to go home at 2 tomorrow, and that makes the whole world a better place, and I have no complaints.
