The steampunk short story clocks in at 8600 words, 1100 over the suggested word count and is off to Mr. Editor.

After three days of trying to write, and life getting in the way, I am finally back at the keyboard working on my first steampunk short story. 4400 words down, over halfway to the goal. #amwritng (at last).

Crazy story: a commissioning editor reaches out of the blue. After verifying she's real, we chat, and I wound up dusting off an old outline she sparked to. She likes it and suddenly, I may have a new project.

The original fantasy outline has survived the first Beta reader. Now it's odd to numbers two and three. After their feedbaxk, we will see what comes next.

Where do writers get their ideas? Any and everywhere. Overnight, I got up and was suddenly struck with a central idea for a story featuring some of my existing characters. This morning, more of the story slipped into focus. Now it needs to gel and then get written.

Much to my surprise, the outline for the original fantasy novel has been completed. I've given it a revision and now turn it over to two Beta readers to see if it makes sense to anyone but me. #amwriting

I hit a positive milestone this morning: the original fantasy novel outline has reached chapter 20, the story's halfway point. Now to let it rest, and tomorrow I can review it and revise to tighten things before starting the back half.

The manuscript for @Crazy8Press' Thrilling Adventure Yarns 2026 is now in the hands of book designer @gryphonrose. As a result, I will be closing Late Pledges on Saturday, February 23.

New year and change is in the wind. A side job I've had since 2016 just vanished. It was a nice thing to do each month and brought in about $1000 a year, but it's now internal. At least the one perk it came with lasts until October.

On the first day: There were some chores, a story edited, and then I settled down with coffee and popcorn for the final episode of #strangerthings. There are quibbles, but they largely stuck the landing. And then I started reading the first book of the year. An excellent way to lock off 2026.

The year is winding down and today, I happily made progress on the WIP outline, revising the first 12 chapters and added two more.

For those of us who pay quarterly taxes or any other payment by December 31, this unheralded change in postal policy can bite you in the butt. This could have other unforeseen consequences (e.g., mail-in balloting), but for now, this is more timely.
