My feed is full of people from all industries & friend groups sharing Moon images, Integrity's journey, space memes, & inspirational/fun tidbits about the astronauts. The space industry has broken through the noise at last. It could be like this ALL THE TIME if you vote to fund NASA and STEAM! 🗳️🪐

NASA isn't why the US doesn't have universal healthcare, or a social safety net. The US doesn't have those things because politicians with the power to provide them choose specifically not to (with varying levels of support from voters). Enthusiasm for human spaceflight doesn't drive that choice.

It never occurs to the sort of leftist that contraposes NASA against social welfare programs that the implementation of the Great Society and the peak of NASA's power, prestige, and (as a share of the budget) funding happened *at the same time, by the efforts of the same people*.

Anyone saying this has never spoken to any writers, who mostly have two modes, either hyper "I *need* to get these 15,000 words out *right now* to make my brain shut up" or agonising for a literal hour about whether to use "a" or "the" in a sentence they then delete.

I’ve said it before but will say it again: “writing with AI” is not a valid strategy. 1) you’re standing on the backs of others whose work was plagiarized for that purpose, 2) you’re not putting in the work and not bringing anything truly unique into the world (1/5)

I've seen people trying to defend it today by saying "No, no, I just use it to brainstorm, bounce ideas, I do the actual writing" and with all the kindness in the world I need to tell you: if there is a stage of writing you are not good at, you need to get good, not use the plagiarism machine.

Yup. Also, leaving out issues of plagiarism, etc, one relevant question for many creatives is "why introduce into my workflow a purported tool that will add friction and slow things down." If you have skills and a method that works for you, "AI" is generally a drag, not a boost. Time is precious.

I keep seeing "all authors use AI, the real issue is they're being forced to be sneaky about it" headlines. Full stop No. This is a lie peddled for normalization. It's schoolyard-level pressure tactics "C'mon, all the cool kids are already doing it. We won't tell. It's fine. We're on your side."

This morning I was in that state where I fall halfway back asleep and have semi-lucid dreams, and at one point, I dreamt I was watching a traditionally animated show on TV, and the animation was beautifully lifelike and fluid, and since I knew I was dreaming, I wondered, "How did my brain do that?"
