I'm sorry to hear that artist Ron Tiner has passed away. We collaborated on a short series I wrote for Oink! back in 1988 so I've written a piece about him on my blog today.

I've not read much stuff drawn by Boichi yet, but the little I have read made me love his work. These great faces are from Dr Stone vol 1. I need to read more!

One of the reasons I hate gen AI is that I can't trust photo ref any more. I've been trawling Pinterest to find some fun photos to do practise drawings of, but I find myself second guessing every image, is it real or not?

At some point in my late teens I realised perhaps I should be proud I'd never smoked a cigarette. My fancy pink lungs never once clotted up with tar. Now in my 40s I still never have. Why break the streak? Well I'm starting to think ChatGPT might be one like that. Keep our brains nice and pink.

I adored the books he made with Janet when I was little, and this first year of being a Dad, one of the great pleasures was rediscovering their work anew. My daughter loves turning the pages, as I marvel at how brilliant these books remain. What a huge loss.

Itâs hard to overstate how sickening the concept of âopting outâ is here. Itâs like having to go to individual criminals and fill out a form to opt out of their right to steal from you. Artists are *already* at a disadvantage trying to enforce their rights over their work against big companies.

I feel constantly angered by AI bullshit lately, my negativity towards it is burrowing into my bones and I hate it. Who do these companies think they are that they can just steal our work? Do they have no shame? And why do the people using it seem so oblivious to the very obvious ethical issues?
