The MAHA Dietary Guidelines VII: The Documents A brief note about the political history of the dietary guidelines. When I was on the Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee in 1995, our committee selected the topics for review, reviewed the science, wrote the scientific report, and wrote the dietary guidelines. We did the whole thing, except for the USDA's food guide pyramid.
