“I’m Goin’ Down” was released as a single on this day in 1985. With a sharp backbeat and bar-band sensibility, it’s one of the most rhythmically playful tunes on "Born in the U.S.A." — with the E Street Band turning heartbreak into something you can move to.

Reflecting on the making of "Born to Run," in 2009, Bruce told James Henke, “The sound I heard in my head was not one that was physically reproducible.” Undeterred, he took six months to record the title track — and guided Clarence Clemons’ iconic solo on “Jungleland,” singing it phrase by phrase.

To commemorate the upcoming 50th anniversary of “Born to Run,” a rare 1975 outtake from the album's legendary sessions is now available in full studio quality as it has never been heard before.

Inspired by people seeking work in the Texas oil fields, "Seeds" tells a boom-and-bust story. Unrecorded at the time, it joined the Born in the U.S.A. tour setlist as the "new song" — debuting at London’s Wembley Stadium 40 years ago today and seen here at Hyde Park in 2009.

On the final night of the Reunion Tour, fans cheered the renewed bond between Bruce and the band — and the music too, from high-energy takes on "Atlantic City" and "Prove It All Night" to rarities like "The Promise." What felt like a finale became the start of something greater, 25 years ago today.

25 years ago today, “American Skin (41 Shots)” debuted in Atlanta — towards the end of the Reunion Tour — in response to the tragic killing of Amadou Diallo. It has since been performed in dedication to other victims of brutality, including Trayvon Martin and George Floyd.

Bruce’s take on Jimmy Cliff’s "Trapped" (shown here live at Hyde Park in 2009) remains one of his most iconic covers. Its official release on the "We Are the World" LP in 1985 brought it to a wider audience — topping the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart for 3 weeks that spring, 40 years ago this month.
