There’s a cyclists’ die-in happening in my #Montreal neighbourhood right now! The intersection of two major thoroughfares, Bernard and Ave. du Parc, has been blocked off at the height of rush hour. (A child was run over and killed by the driver of a truck here earlier this year.)

This photo shows 58 cyclists and just two cars. MPs looking out of their window today will see a steady flow of people cycling, some for the first time in a while, given confidence to do so with quality infrastructure. Just over 10 years ago there wasn’t even a cycle lane here.

The Embankment cycleway (CS3) in London was purposefully built to be wider than was usual in order to future proof it. Some said it would hardly be used. Now there’s a decent case for widening it further. Induced demand is real.

We would like to see @willnorman.co.uk take an interest in all of the these projects and especially the last two. They are simply not good enough and Transport for London should not be funding such poor schemes. 8/8

First, the crossing on Straight Road is long overdue and should have been planned as part of the £60m project at Gallows Corner. Our friends at @cyclehavering.bsky.social developed a plan for some basic changes here and we think this crossing needs to be a toucan and come with more works. 2/n
